"Few things in life match the thrill of a marathon." – Fred Lebrow, New York City Marathon Founder
Next Monday 29th Oct, I’m running the Dublin Marathon and would appreciate your support for the Children’s Medical & Research Foundation, Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. This involves 26.2 miles of self-inflicted fun or torture, depending who you talk to.
I’m hoping to raise at least €2,000 for CMRF. If you can support my goal in any small way, it will make a difference. Microsoft Ireland will also support my efforts by matching any funds I raise.
As a further incentive to make me run faster, I’m personally going to donate €25 for each minute under 3 hours. My target time is 2hr 50 mins, so if I hit it I will donate €250 to CMRF.
How can you get involved?
1. Make an online donation via my Sponsorship page
2. Come out and support the 15,000 participants in the marathon on Bank Holiday Monday starting at 9am from Fitzwilliam Sq.
Training this year started back in January – I’ve ran over 2,000km this year. That’s enough to get me from Dublin to Rome (and no baggage charges). I’ve completed 30 races of all sorts – running, triathlon, cycling and had some great weekends, setting some PBs along the way.
Many thanks to everyone who has supported CMRF over the years,
"Like the marathon, life can sometimes be difficult, challenging and present obstacles, however if you believe in your dreams and never ever give up, things will turn out for the best." – Meb Keflezighi, U.S. Olympic marathoner
How will Crumlin use the donation?
Children are our future. At the Children’s Medical & Research Foundation, Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin our team has one simple mission – helping kids and their families. Every day our team strives to raise vital funds for clinical research, equipment and patients as well as family hospital services that otherwise would not exist. We want our patients and their families to walk through the doors of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and have access to the very best treatment, facilities and equipment.
It’s simple. You can really make a difference to the lives of sick children in Ireland today.
The benefits of supporting our work are many—knowing your gift could change a child’s life, support lifesaving research, joining a community of other generous supporters and staying current on children’s research and fundraising events.
• We support the care for over 100,000 patients every year.
• We support the purchase of equipment for life saving surgeries on the smallest and most vulnerable of our citizens.
• We ensure that staff have the very best to treat massive injuries on little bodies.
• Our researchers invented treatments that 20 years ago people would have dismissed as science fiction.
Your support leads to discoveries that mean less pain for children, a higher survival rate and less time in hospital. Thank you. Your support continues to help fund life-changing equipment and facilities and enables us to attract the best doctors, researchers and nurses in the world.
